Keeping Your Carpets Smelling FreshEvery pet owner will know how their furniture and carpets can gradually absorb pet odors and stains. However, it’s a problem that can strike even animal-free homes- your carpets soak up what’s on the bottom of your shoes, as well as any spillages, so they are no longer as fresh as they used to be. Put the following pet odor and stain removal tips into practice, though, and you’ll find that your carpet smells great again!

Be sure to clean and vacuum your carpets at least once a week. This will eliminate any bacteria present, and those bacteria are what cause the bad odors.

A doormat will also work wonders, since it gets rid of the dirt on the bottom of your shoes. However, you have to make sure that you wipe your feet before you step through the door, or else you’ll be right back where you started!

You can also easily deodorize your carpet using humble baking soda. Simply sprinkle a liberal amount of the power on the area you want to clean, making sure you get an even coating. Then, it’s time to sit back and wait- the longer you leave it, the better it will be able to soak up what’s in the carpet. Leaving the soda in overnight usually does the trick.

Once it has done its work, you simply have to vacuum up the baking soda until it’s all gone. If the odor persists, just keep going through this process until the problem is solved. Make sure you always have some baking soda in the cupboard for just such an occasion!
